How To Install eSIM on Android

Works with Samsung Galaxy S21+, Google Pixel 3+, OnePlus, Motorola, and most eSIM-capable Android phones. You'll need a second device to scan the QR code.

Before you start: Your Android phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. You'll need a second device (or a printed copy) to display the QR code for scanning, since Android cannot scan a QR code on its own screen. You'll also need a Wi-Fi connection.

How to Add eSIM on Samsung Galaxy

Connect to Wi-Fi
Connect to Wi-Fi before starting. This is required to download the eSIM profile.

Open Settings
Go to Settings → Connections → SIM Card Manager.

Add eSIM
Tap Add eSIM and then select Scan QR code.

Scan the QR code
Open the uPhone email on a second device (or print it). Point your Samsung camera at the QR code. Your phone detects the eSIM profile automatically.

Confirm and activate
Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm and activate your plan. It may take 1–2 minutes to provision.

Go to Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs.

Add eSIM
Tap Add SIM or the + icon, then select Download a SIM instead? or Scan QR code.

Open the uPhone email on a second device. Point your Pixel camera at the QR code.

Confirm and activate
Follow the prompts to confirm. Your eSIM will be active within 1–2 minutes.
Android tip

Steps vary by manufacturer and Android version. If the paths above don't match, search for "Add eSIM [your phone model]" for exact instructions. Make sure your device is carrier-unlocked before proceeding.

Android eSIM Troubleshooting — Common Problems

Open the uPhone email on a different device (laptop, tablet, or another phone) and try scanning again. Make sure the screen brightness is high. If the code has expired, contact support to get a new one.

Your device may be carrier-locked, or eSIM may not be supported on your specific model or region variant. Check your device specs or contact your carrier.

Enable Data Roaming for the eSIM line. Go to Settings → Connections/Network → SIM Card Manager → select the eSIM → enable Data Roaming.

eSIM profiles are locked to the device they were first activated on. Contact our support team to arrange a replacement.
